The vines are overgrowing my hammock. I lay in it to watch Generation Kill. The nights are filled with mosquito coil smoke. The sky is a dark grey with a little pink. My boss is going to Ghana. She giggled and jiggled like a small girl when she found out. I found a rat trying to get into my room. They're taking over. Rats and vines.

In Swaddling Clothes

Night one. Dishwasher, Neko Case, spring air. 'Zithers and lutes'.

I've retired The Standard Line Delivery System for no real reason and every good reason available. This is my new venture, and we'll see how that goes. No tricks, no careful card castles. Less graphomania is the central incantation — in fact, this whole project is for three people and three people only — all you others are intruders, snoops, motherfuckers. Tred softly.

At home anywhere, wander alone like a rhinoceros.
